catering & menus

While Markdale specializes in complete independence and privacy for guests staying in the Stone House or Annexe, we find some guests like to have specific meals catered for.
The nearest eatery is fifteen minutes drive away in Binda, but it’s a great way to come home from a day out walking in the hills or even after a tough afternoon on the tennis court! Pamela Charity has recently moved to Binda by way of Charity’s Mediterranean Restaurant in Balmain, the Bowral Cafe and That Noodle Place and depending on numbers can provide gourmet meals in your accommodation, or her “Feasting Rooms” in Binda, which can seat up to twenty six in adjoining rooms.

 

For a minimum of eight we can provide a BBQ for you at the Stone Houses, or Pamela can cook a gourmet meal for you in your accommodation, but please provide plenty of notice – at least a week- if you require catered meals.

 

Whatever you require, be it catered meals in your accommodation, food left in the refrigerator or part prepared, or a booking in Pamela’s “Feasting Room” in Binda, please let us know and we shall put you directly in touch with the person appropriate to your choice – we are always keen to help.

We offer 3 catered options for individual catered country meals, listed below with estimated prices: *

BBQ Option – $30 dollars a head *

Main meal of:

Hills Sausages (locally sourced from Crookwell)

Or

Cutlet chops

Or

Marinated chicken or marinated chicken kebabs.
Served with baby potatoes, green salad, or crunchy noodle salad with pine nuts, bread rolls.

Dessert

sticky date pudding with ice cream and butterscotch sauce.
Our property manager, may be available (if you are interested) to talk briefly about the working side of the property and the history.

* Requires a minimum of 8 people.

Partially Prepared Meals, based on main course provided by “The Dinner Ladies”, which you need to heat, or cook in the oven.

Main course of:

Cottage Pie; Ingredients; Minced beef, onion, carrot, garlic, red wine, thyme, stock, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce (gluten free), peas, potatoes, butter, milk, salt.

Or

Lamb, Pea and Mince Pie; Ingredients; lamb shoulder, onion, tomato paste, red wine, tomato passta, peas, mint, flour, butter, salt

Or

Ragu alla Bolognese; Ingredients; Pork and veal mince, tomato passata, red wine, tomato paste, garlic, onion, celery, carrot, thyme, bay, salt

Or

Classic Lasagne

or

Moroccan Vegetable Tagine: Ingredients; onion, carrot, potato, eggplant, zucchini, pumpkin, chickpeas, fresh coriander, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, chilli, cumin, coriander, caraway, cinnamon, allspice, turmeric, ginger, saffron, cardamon, tomato passata, water, salt.

all with vegetables, or salad, either pre-prepared for you to cook, or to be prepared by you, as you wish.

The “banquet” usually follows a theme,and varies from three to six courses, plus canapes with pre-dinner drinks. Pamela will personally discuss menu ideas- below just an outline of a few.
