Will you play tennis this morning at the Homestead (jumping into the solar-heated swimming pool when you're hot), drive up the road to the Abercrombie Caves, or golf on the Crookwell course half an hour away?Perhaps the Bush Golf Course at Bigga 15 minutes away would be the basis of a good story to take home?
Or you could laze beside the pool with a book - the next best thing to doing nothing and a popular activity amongst our guests!
With unrestricted broadband WiFi internet access available in the houses and grounds you can also get away from the normal office routine without being out of touch.
You could choose between a walk in the garden, pausing for a short practise session on the wooden horse in the polo practice pit, or go wildlife spotting by walking on the property, stopping at the C19th shearing shed on the way. A particularly popular walk is the 45 minute 'Indian Rocks' 3km walk (6km round trip) to the top of the range (if you have broadband you can click here for a short movie taken from the 'Indian Rocks' showing the view). You can find detailed directions and a printable visual map showing signed arrowed photos of the route here.
Nobody has yet walked to the other end of Markdale and back, perhaps because it is 16 kilometres (if you are bringing dogs or other pets please consult our pets page for guidelines as Markdale is a working property).
Trout fishing in the Southern Tablelands is also a well kept secret. It ranges from lakes to small trout streams and everything in between, with some of the best spots only accessible on private property.
There are 10 kilometres of trout streams on Markdale itself and it is also close to The Grabine, Pejar Dam and the Crookwell, Lachlan, Abercrombie, Bolong and Burra Rivers.
If you wish to eat out there is the Willow Vale Mill at Lagan (40 minutes) and Catherine's CBD and other Eateries in Crookwell (30 minutes) but we can also arrange meals for you on the property if you don't wish to cook.
But if you don't want to make decisions on which activity to pursue, you'll have made the obvious choice to just sit back and drink in the peace and beauty of this special place. That's the majority choice.
